Snow day!

Snow day in Austin, Texas!  Everything, even the city, closed.

A good day to reconsider being healthy and doing things to prevent breast cancer:

  • Exercise (I did go to the gym today [drove slowly])
  • Be lean (don't overeat today)
  • Be active (sitting around is the worst thing you can [or can't] do)

Plan to find out how healthy you are by measuring your carotenoid antioxidant level.  We have the Pharmanex BioPhotonic scanner and in 1.5 minutes can tell you your skin carotenoid score (SCS) by placing your hand in front of a low level blue light.  You can then be empowered to make improvements in your antioxidant levels.  All three of the above suggestions improve antioxidant health, but what you eat and which supplements matter, too.  Eating a balanced diet with 5-10 servings of colorful fruits and vegetables as well as well formulated nutritional supplements will help.  In fact LifePak™nano and g3 juice are formulated to provide your body with a comprehensive array of vitamins and minerals to fill the gaps your diet may have.  And, best yet, the results can be measured with the scanner.  In fact, if you use the LifePak monthly Automatic Delivery Rewards program and your scan does not improve Pharmanex will refund your money!

Get your scan Monday 512-451-5788 (in Austin no snow then) or check out www.drwinsett.nsproducts.com for more information and a scanner location near you.

Together we can prevent 86,000 breast cancer cases this year.  Let's start with you!

How to improve your antioxidant score.

You have measured your Skin Carotenoid Score and you want to improve it?

By getting your Skin Carotenoid Score you are now empowered to improve your antioxidant health.

But, how do you do that?

  1. Diet: at least 6 servings of deeply colored fruits and vegetables
  2. Body fat: be as lean an you can
  3. Exercise: every day
  4. Sedentary: do everything to avoid this
  5. Smoking: don't ever
  6. Pollution: avoid
  7. Sunlight: use sun screen
  8. Supplements: well formulated containing phytonutrients (plant sources)
The first seven we have reviewed in the blog posts in the past and will again.

And where do you find the supplements specially formulated to increase your antioxidant protection?  Pharmanex products.  Begin with Lifepak™nano, which has been shown in numerous studies and my personal experience to dramatically raise your SCS.  Lifepak™nano is the most comprehensive multivitamin/mineral supplement I have been able to find.  Lifepak products supply a variety of micronutrients, phytonutrients and antioxidants, scientifically formulated to support longevity and wellness.  Learn more at www.drwinsett.nsproducts.com.   It contains omega3's, polyphenols and other antioxidants which in higher levels reduce your risk for breast cancer (http://drwinsett.blogspot.com/2011/06/fish-oil-omega3-reduces-breast-cancer.html and http://drwinsett.blogspot.com/2011/04/apple-day-keeps-breast-cancer-away.html).  It even helps you get a jumpstart on numbers 2, 3 and 4.

How do you know your supplements are making a difference?

Have you ever wondered that?  I have and I take supplements because I believe our 21st century American diets are deficient in some nutrients, particularly antioxidants.

Antioxidants help protect you from free radical damage.  We are each exposed every day to free radicals from smoking, pollution, sun exposure, preserved foods, excessive body fat, inactivity, even stress, to name just a few.  We can do some things to lessen the free radical damage, such as, exercise, avoiding pollution and smoke, using sun block, eating a balanced diet and choosing more highly colored fruits and vegetables.  BUT, I believe that is not enough, we also need well formulated nutritional supplements.

Now, we have the means to measure carotenes (one of the most important antioxidants) in the skin and get a Skin Carotenoid Score (SCS), which is an indicator of over all antioxidant status of the body.

This new measuring tool is called the Pharmanex Bio-Photonic Scanner, based on the Noble-prize winning technology: Resonance Raman Spectroscopy.  You place your hand in front of a low-energy blue light.  The result of the 1.5 minute test is not a biomarker that diagnoses or predicts a disease but a Skin Carotenoid Score that helps you determine if you are consuming an adequate amount of antioxidant containing nutrients.  This SCS is a measure of long-term lifestyle and not just reflective of the bag of carrots you ate right before the test to make your score better!

We have the scanner and can help you keep your New Year's Resolution to be fit!  Call us at 512-451-5788 for your appointment for the 1.5 minute scan with immediate results.  It costs just $20.  You and I can then discuss your score and how to improve it and track it.

Tomorrow: How to improve your results.
